Wes & Sue
The Couple Behind Silvery Moon. Mother, Father, Lovers, 96.4% owners
The Stillar’s time on Trout Lake is built on generations of family history.
It all started in 1959, when Wes’ parents—Jim and Edna Stillar—purchased a double lot in a bay on the south shore of Trout Lake from INCO for just $3,000 (about $35,000 today). The following year, they built their camp and spent over 40 summers there raising their three kids: Sandy, Wes, and Tim on Trout Lake.
In 1990, Wes and Sue continued that tradition by purchasing the lot next door and building their own camp. It was there that they raised their family, spending every summer on Trout Lake and creating lifelong memories along the way. Over the years, the lake has been part of so many special moments—including their son Adam getting married in 2015 and their daughter Amanda getting engaged at Trout Lake in 2017.
In the winter of 2019, along with their son Deven, they took the next step and purchased Silvery Moon Lodge, turning a lifetime of connection to the lake into something they could share with others.
That same sense of care, hospitality, and love for the lake—now carried forward together—continues to shape the experience guests have today.
The Trout Lake Chicks
Dangerous Gang, Grounds Crew & Egg Suppliers
Grandma, Mother, Buttercup, Deloris, Harry, Barry, Itchy, Scratchy, Leo, Cleo, and a few others—make up the Trout Lake Chicks, the cutest crew but toughest gang on Trout Lake.
You can often find these gals napping in the shade, dust bathing in the sand, or searching for worms to punish after a hard rain.
Beyond their bubbly personalities, garden de-bugging & slapstick antics, they also love producing fresh eggs for our guests at Silvery Moon—but there’s one big catch: all dogs MUST stay on a leash. If they even spot a dog running free, they get so stressed out that they go on a full egg-laying strike & shut down all egg production!!
Deven
Your Host, Fry Cutter, 1.6% owner
The year is 2019. Deven is a struggling actor (you should see the audition tapes!) living in Toronto. With Hollywood continuing to ignore him, a new opportunity presented itself when Silvery Moon Lodge was put up for sale.
What started as an unexpected opportunity quickly became a life-changing decision. Returning full-time to Trout Lake, Deven joined Wes and Sue in taking over the lodge, beginning a new chapter in a place that had already meant so much to their family.
Before taking over the lodge, he was fortunate to spend much time at Happy Landing Lodge. Where through his friendship with incredible owners Kacper and Wanda, he learned a great deal about the ins & outs of running a lodge. Over years of friendship, he gained valuable insight and guidance that have helped shape his approach at Silvery Moon.
Since then, he’s been hands-on in just about every part of the operation. From welcoming guests and running the day-to-day, to building new ideas like Dockside Dev’s and Silvery Scoops, Deven is always looking for ways to make the experience at Silvery Moon even better.
At the heart of it all is a simple goal: to share his love of Trout Lake with every guest who visits—and to make sure they leave loving it just as much as he does.
Paka
Head of Security, Rodent Control, Napper Extraordinare, 2% owner
Paka is Ally’s sidekick and right-hand man—her loyal travel companion and now a key part of the Silvery Moon team.
By night, Paka takes her job as Lodge Security very seriously, patrolling the property in the wee hours and keeping a close eye on all things the ‘Silvery Moon’ touches. She also very entuthiscially handles all rodent control duties, making sure everyone from the mice to the fox’s stay in check.
After a hard night’s work, she rewards herself with a long morning nap, often on the porch, before easing into her afternoons—sunbathing on the deck, gossiping with the chickens and trying to sneak vanilla ice cream from Silvery Scoops.
Paka may not follow a schedule, but she’s always exactly where she needs to be.
